The swiftlets are five weeks old today and still with us. Still practising their wing flaps and occasionally peering out of the entrance, and still being fed by the single parent bird. We wonder how much longer it'll be before they leave, surely only a couple of days or so now?

  1. We have no Swifts here, only Swallows. Back in Sussex we call them Martlets.

  3. Hello Cro, fancy seeing you here! I'm a bit surprised that you have no swifts in your area, I'd have thought France would be swarming with them. Maybe they've all gone home to Africa by now? Or maybe you've never seen any swifts in your area?

  4. Hello Sue, just came to visit you via Cro and note your North Norfolk base. Here in my part of S Norfolk we have only swallows. A few miles away they have swifts. In Corsica I have never seen so many swifts. See you next year as I see the blog closes when the swifts go.

  5. Hi Rachel, welcome. Pity there are no swifts in your area, maybe they'll come one day (it took us 10 years to get to where we are now!). Do check in in May next year when I shall be starting up with hopefully news of returning adults.
